Luck - Fortune

Fortunate one, who only once sprinkles milk on the Tulasi, in his house the
goddess of luck will stay for ever.

Gods Demigods River and Ghats Stay

  1. Wherever a Tulasi tree spreads, there will stay the gods Brahma,Vishnu, Siva and all other gods. Kesava always stays in the middle, Prajapati on the top and Siva in the stalk of the Tutasi leaves. Who absorbed by devotion honours the Tulasi, honours as well Vishnu, Siva and all the other gods
  2. Lakshmi, Saraswati,Gajatri, Chandika, Sachi and the other goddesses are staying in the Tulasi flowers,
  3. Indra, Agni, Samanas, Nairita, Varuna, Pavana, Kuvera live in the branches of this tree.
  4. Aditya and other planets, all visvas (semi-divine),Vasus, Munis and all Devarishis, the Vidyadhara, Gandharva, Siddha and Apsara go to the Tulasi grove and always stay there.
  5. Ganga, Yamuna, Narmata, Saraswati, Godavari, Chandrabhaga and all other rivers and holy ghats, as many as there are on earth within the middle of ten million worlds, they all go to the Tulasi forest and make their dwelling there.

Ganges and Yamuna water

bhaksitam lubdhakenapi patram tulasi sambhavam
pascad distantam apanno bhasmi bhutam kalevaram
sita sitam yatha niram sarva papa ksayavaham
tatha ca tulasi patram prasitam sarva kamadam

(Hari Bhakti Vilasa 9/213,214 from Skanda Purana, conversation between Vasistha and King Mandhata)

Even if a most sinful hunter eats a Tulasi leaf and dies afterwards, whatever sins he has in his body turn into ashes. As whitish and blackish water (Ganges and Yamuna water) remove all kinds of sins, in the very same way white (green) and black Tulasis removes all kinds of sins, and if he eats these leaves (after offering them to Lord Krsna), all of his desires are perfectly achieved.

Yamaraja instructs his messengers

tulasy alankrta ye ye tulasi nama japakah
tulasi vana palaye te tyajya durato bhatah

(Hari Bhakti Vilasa 9/133 from Skanda Purana, Kasi khanda, Yamaraja instructs his messengers)

Oh messengers, anybody who is decorated with Tulasi wood or chants Her name, always protects a Tulasi forest, you should give up bringing such persons to my abode.

Real Pilgrimage

hitva tirtha-sahasrani sarvan api siloccayan
tulasi kanane nityam kalau tisthati kesavah

(Hari Bhakti Vilasa 9/116 from Skanda Purana)

In Kali-yuga, Lord Sri Kesava, after giving up thousands of places of pilgrimage and holy days, He resides in the forest of Tulasi-devi.

Simply By

In the Skanda Purāṇa there is statement about tulasī, as follows: “Tulasī is auspicious in all respects.
  1. Simply by seeing,
  2. simply by touching,
  3. simply by remembering,
  4. simply by praying to,
  5. simply by bowing before,
  6. simply by hearing about or
  7. simply by sowing this tree,
there is always auspiciousness. Anyone who comes in touch with the tulasī tree in the above-mentioned ways lives eternally in the Vaikuṇṭha world.”

Vrinda-devi and Parrots / Nishanta Lila

All the gopi messengers are filled with great love for Sri Sri Radha and Krishna, but among them, Vrinda-devi is the best. She has a beautiful complexion, like molten gold, wears blue garments, and is decorated with pearls and flowers. Srila Raghunatha Dasa Gosvami has explained in VRAJA VILASA STAVA that "Vrinda-devi is the transcendental orchestrator of Radha-Krishna's pastimes. She decorates the pastime groves and creates a festive atmosphere to enhance the divine couple's pleasure." She is expert at arranging the meeting of Radha and Krishna, and She knows the best places for the Divine Couples rendez-vous. Flowers, creepers, vines and trees are under Her supervision, and all the birds and animals in Vrindavana carry out Her orders. Her chief disciple, the yellow parrot Daksa, resides upon Her left hand. From there he sends the other one hundred thousand parrot disciples flying all over Vraja to deliver Vrinda-devi's messages or warnings of unforeseen events.

Vrunda's Bad Dream - Two Tiger & Monkey Faced

As per Gods wish, Vrunda had a dream. In this dream she saw her husband Jalandhar in strange circumstances.

  1. She saw him naked and covered in oil, and riding a bull buffalo.
  2. He was wearing garlands made from black flowers and was surrounded by meat eating creatures and was travelling in a southerly direction.
  3. She also saw that her city was submerged in the ocean and that the sun appeared to have one hundred holes in it's body and was rising without any light.

With such a frightening nightmare, she became very worried and thought that something very bad was about to happen. She was very frightened and began to cry. Vrunda became very restless and began to roam here and there, completely confused.

She left her home, and with her two friends went into the garden and out into the forest. She was crying very loudly and calling for help.

Then she saw two Rakshas (Demons) with faces of ferocious tigers and was extremely frightened, thinking that she would be eaten alive. She ran very fast and then saw a man meditating who was very calm and appeared to be full of compassion. Vrunda fell to his feet and asked to be saved from the demons. Bhagwan, who had taken up the form of this sanyasi, loudly grunted at the demons who disappeared into the forest.

Having been saved, Vrunda folded her hands together and offered her thanks to her saviour. She also prayed to him and asked if he could tell her if her husband Jalandhar who had gone to fight Lord Shiva, was dead or alive. She begged him to tell the truth.

At that moment, two monkeys appeared, one carried Jalandhar's head, the other his body. When Vrunda saw that her husband had been killed, she fainted. At that moment, Bhagwan kindly sprinkled some water and she came around. Having regained her senses, she began to lament and prayed to Bhagwan to make her husband alive. She cried that she would be an orphan without her husband and that her life would not be worth living. She stated that she was a loyal wife and that she could not remain alive without her husband. "O Lord, you know all the desires that are in my heart, so please fulfil my wish and give me back my husband. My husband was more dear to me than my own soul, so please make him alive again". Bhagwan in the form of the Sanyasi laughed and said "Lord Shiva has killed your husband, however I will bring him back to life to express my kindness to you." As Bhagwan looked at the parts of Jalandhar's body, it appeared to stand up, upon which Bhagwan entered the dead body. Seeing Jalandhar alive, Vrunda became very happy and embraced him, thinking it was truly her dear husband. By this embracing to another person other than her husband, Vrunda Pativratta Dharma and been broken.

Bhagwan then assumed his real form with four hands and having a charka, mace, conch and a padma in his hands.

Haridasa Thakura and Tulsi

Haridasa Thakura a great devotee of Caitanya Mahaprabhu purified a prostitue who had come with the intention of seducing him with instructions to chant the holy name and worship Tulasi. She became so elevated by this service that even great Vaishnavas would come to get her mercy.

Ten Million Relatives / How is it Possible

Ved Vyas to Jaimini Rishi - Whoever places at the root of Tulasi a lamp in the evening, he shall go, accompanied by ten million relatives to the palace of Vishnu.

My Uncle Asked
  1. How Ten Million Relatives Possibe
  2. How can One Person Deliver Ten Million
My Reply
  1. Relatives - Everyone comes From Same Origin hence we are Related Directly or Indirectly
  2. Like a Small Match Stick Can Burn the Whole Forest Similarly Single Person's Worship of of Tulasi ensures him going , accompanied by ten million relatives to Spiritual World.

Benfit of Tulsi Garden

19th century one Englishman, the Chief Electrical Engineer of Calcutta, planted only tulsi plants all around his bungalow. When asked the reason he explained that tulsi plant's electrical strength cannot be compared with any plant of the world and a tulsi plant purifies the air of an area of two hundred metres all around. It destroys Malaria, Plague, Thysis. And if one ties a piece of wood of tulsi plant in any part of the body then the germs of communicable diseases never enter the body. And finally this practice enhances longevity.

Different Names

In Sanskrit, Bengali, Gujarati and Marathi it is known as Tulsi. Moreover, in Sanskrit Tulsi is also known as Maiyarika and in Bengali it is also known as Babultulsi. Marathi and Orivan often refer it as Tulasa and in Punjabi it is called Babri. In Telangana they call it Bhutulsi, however sometimes in Andhra it is known as Tirunapatchi. Tulsi is also called as Sabza in Maharashtra.

Bhakti Gopi - Connecting 8 Gopas and 8 Gopis

Bhakti Gopi(Tulsi Devi) is Wearing Green Dress

Tulsi Gopi Messenger of Radha to Krishna

One day Srimati Radharani had nicely decorated the kunja with the help of Her maidservants. With great anticipation, they are expecting Krsna to come and arrive at the planned rendezvous time. However, Krsna does not show up. They wait and wait, but still no Krsna. Radha is beginning to go into Her sulky mood, and also beginning to cry, so a messenger[dyuti] is sent out to find Him. Along the way, the dyuti encounters one of Candravali's servants who pleasurably reports that Krsna is over there in that kunja. When the dyuti returns, she of course gives a prompt report to Lalita and Visaka, who in turn relay the news to Srimati Radharani. At that point, Radha's leftist sulky mood reaches it's peak, and She forbids that Krsna can enter Her kunja. And She is crying, crying, crying.

Radharani says, "I don't want Krsna to come. Don't allow Him to come to My kunja. Entrance is forbidden!"

When Krsna finally does arrive some time later, Lalita and Visaka are standing guard at the entrance, and stop Him. They block His entry and sharply tell Him to "Get out of here". He pleads for entry to the kunja, but there is no permission. Visakha, who is harder than Lalita, is especially tough on Him at this point. He must turn away and leave.

So Krsna went away to the banks of the Yamuna. Morose and disappointed, Krsna could not understand what to do. He had gone to Candravali's kunja only to heighten the leftist mood of Radhika, the mood which brings Him so much pleasure. He wanted an opportunity to have Her association while She was in that heightened leftist mood, but His plan firmly backfired. Now, what to do, what to do?

In the meantime, Vrndadevi learns of Krsna's predicament, so She comes to Him with a solution.

She tells Him that He must completely change His appearance, take up the position of a begging Sannyasi, and sing a special song. She tells Him that He must get rid of all that black hair and shave His head, discard the dress of a cowherd boy and wear sannyas cloth, refrain from the 3-fold bending form, give up the flute and the peacock feather, and learn the song that She will teach Him,.... and then there may be some hope.

When Vrnda said this, immediately that form appeared there. Krsna became that sannyasi form--shaved head, and His complexion was of molten gold. No peacock feather, no flute, no three places curved form. In sannyasi form He immediately appeared there. Vrnda then taught Him to sing a beautiful song in glorification of Radha, the last line of which is,

"Today Kanu, Krsna, is moving from door to door begging radha-prema, radha-prema, radha-prema".

So Krsna, singing, goes back to the kunja where Lalita and Visaka become very happy to see such a blissful sannyasi singer, and very happy to hear such a wonderful song. When they ask Him what He wants, The sannyasi answers, "I have nothing, I am a beggar. I've come here to get radha-prema, radha-prema. I am a prema-bhikhari. I am a beggar of prema."

So Visakha takes the sannyasi into the kunja. She requests Him, "Will You please again sing that nice song You were singing before?"

Then Krsna sang that song in glorification of Radha. "Today Kanu is a bhikari, He is a beggar, moving from door to door begging radha- prema."

When Radharani heard that last line, She responded thus:

"aslisya va pada-ratam pinastu mam
adarsanan marma-hatam karotu va
yatha tatha va vidadhatu lampato
mat-prana-nathas tu sa eva naparah"

I know no one but Krsna as my Lord, and He shall remain so even if He handles me roughly by His embrace or makes me brokenhearted by not being present before me. He is completely free to do anything and everything, for He is always my worshipful Lord unconditionally. It is the expression of a very deep mood of Srimati Radhika.

Soon after, the sannyasi obtains the audience of Radhika, and upon seeing Radha, immediately Krsna's form came, tri-bhanga-lalita. That sannyasi form disappeared.

Tulsi Devi Taking Care of Radha In Seperation of Krishna

As Tulsi Sings Krishna Plucks Lotus for Radha

Suka & Sari - Pet male & female parrots of Vrnda-devi

Mahaprabhuji saw a suka and sari sitting on two opposite branches. A prema-kalaha (loving quarrel) glorifying Sri Sri Radha-Krsna Yugala was taking place between them.

Suka: My Krsna is madana-mohana, the enchanter of the mind of Cupid.

Sari: Yes. He is, as long as my Radha is at His left side; otherwise He is only Madana.

Suka: My Krsna held Giriraja on His finger.

Sari: Because my Radha transmitted sakti into Him, otherwise how could He have done so?

Suka: My Krsna is the life of the whole universe.

Sari: My Radha is the life of that life.

Suka: My Krsna's head is decorated with peacock-feather.

Sari: Only because my Radha's name is marked on that feather.

Suka: The peacock-feather on my Krsna's head leans to the left.

Sari: Because it wants to bow down to my Radha's feet.

Suka: My Krsna is the moon.

Sari: My Radha is the trap to capture that moon.

Suka: There is no need to quarrel uselessly. Let both of us together glorify Yugala Kisora.

Sari: I accept it with great pleasure.

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu became so overwhelmed upon hearing this love-quarrel between suka and sari that He could not maintain His equilibrium and fell down on the earth in a faint. His companions somehow brought Him back to consciousness, after which He continued on His parikrama of Vraja.
